The ozone layer hole was formed due to chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) released into the atmosphere owing to industrialization and pollution. Many nations had pledged to control CFCs in the Montreal Agreement. As a result of an international ban on chlorine-containing manmade chemicals known as CFCs over the years, there is a marked decrease in the hole in the ozone layer which protects our planet from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
According to a research conducted by NASA, measurements taken showed that there was a marked decrease in chlorine in the ozone layer and that the ozone layer hole is gradually recovering.
