With the help of its gas based power plant in Palatana in South Tripura, the ONGC Tripura Power Company (OTPC) is earning lots of carbon points due to low emissions.
ONGC director (onshore) VP Mahawar said that it has been able to produce clean power and reduce the carbon dioxide emission to a large extent which helped it to earn a whopping 1.6 million carbon credit so far from the Palatana project.
This plant has been earning huge carbon credit for the country by reducing green house gas emission. This has been made possible by the optimum utilisation of gas available in Tripura.
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi dedicated the 2nd unit of OTPC Power Plant at Palatana, Tripura, to the Nation on December 1, 2014.
The 726.6 MW gas–based power plant of ONGC Tripura Power Company is the biggest project in North East part of India in terms of investment in E&P, gas and power transmission. It is also credited as the largest Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects of the world.
