March 20 being World Sparrow Day, an activist in Jaipur is doing his bit to preserve this cute little species of birds. Though this bird is not totally died as species there are still many sparrows in the city, still the sight is becoming rare and rare.
Mornings in the Central park on 20 March will see an informative sessions on sparrows and also there will be activist selling the nest boxes. The activist will also educate students on how the habits of the sparrow and how one can do small things to safeguard this species.
Main aim of this session is to make people aware about the species and also make it safe for the bird to breed. There is also a small book on sparrow created by Maharani Gayatri Devi School which will be sold on the day of the event.
According to a report published in The Times of India, Harsh Vardhan is among the other activists who are working for the cause. Since last year around 8300 new sparrows have taken a flight since 2014. This happened after the first next boxes were distributed among the students and citizens.
As sparrows do not nest on tree, they tend to live along human beings and their nesting happens in the split of the buildings. Modern style buildings have made it difficult for the sparrows to nest and hence its species is decreasing day by day.
To help nurture these species of birds and also to keep the importance of the World Sparrow Day it is surely an unique opportunity for the citizens to help sparrows grow their species.
