Traveling by luxurious trains in India has always been a distant dream for the middle class in India. Now, the tourism department of Karnataka is all set to update the Golden Chariot, a luxurious train in the state and make it affordable for the common man. Now the department is planning weekend short packages during weekends that will cost less and could be affordable by one and all. Currently the package costs Rs 1.82 lakh per person for seven nights.
Tourism minister of the state Priyank Kharge informed that this is an initiative to make this luxury train affordable and more and more people can experience this train. Elaborating on the plan, the department is planning to keep the price range between Rs 30,000 to 35,000.
There will be two halts in the train and would be a weekend package which would also include Hampi. Starting from Friday night the tour is scheduled to end on Sunday night or Monday morning. Being short term, it has helped the department to revive the rates and make it affordable.
This package will include accommodation, travel and 3-meals in their itinerary. The department is also planning to throw open the chariot for corporates and for weddings. There are many international takers for the tours offered by Golden Chariot, but not the department is also making it an experience to be cherished for the nationals too.
