For many plant lovers, the thought of going on a vacation or staying away from home is a cause of worry as they fear that their beloved plants will wilt away in the absence of water. Now, they need not worry as help is on the way! Deepika and Santosh Shet, both in their 30s, gave up their IT jobs to set up a startup that provides instant solutions to the problem of watering gardens in the absence of homeowners.
The Shet couple devised a watering automation tool that can be operated from anywhere in the world via a website or mobile app and runs on an IoT (Internet of Things) platform.
Their model consists of a device with an Internet connection, or, to put it simply, an Internet tap. Energy conservation has been optimized for this device. It uses alkaline batteries, which can run for up to six months.
Additionally, the user receives a phone app that alerts him when the overhead tank is empty or the battery is running low. Their website uses a backend database to keep track of the previous watering. One good thing is that the user will be able to see the watering process and can also turn the device on or off. What's more, Santosh and his team are creating algorithms that can accomplish this based on weather trends.
Additionally, the duo is investigating much larger models that utilize cutting-edge technology like LORA (Long Range) to water agricultural lands. Maintaining plants without any manual help is nothing short of a miraculous experience for the enterprising couple.
