Apart from just the scenic beauty that one can enjoy while travelling through Konkan railways, the railway stations on Konkan railway will have something more to offer. Now, 28 railway stations on Konkan railway will have wi-fi facilities and the inauguration for the same will be done by the hands of Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
An official from the Konkan railway said, “We have tied-up with Maharashtra’s leading broadband and internet service provider company Joister, which will provide free Wi-Fi hotspots at 28 stations on the Konkan Railway network and Railway minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate this facility on May 21,” the official said.
“The move will help commuters of Konkan Railway and tourists to access essential information available on the internet. They will be able to use their time productively while waiting for the trains,” he added.
While Suresh Prabhu will launch the wi-fi services from Kudal railway station the same services will be provided on the railway stations between Kolad and Madure.
Nikunj Kampani, CMD of Joister Infoserve informed, “Konkan Railway has tied up with us to provide 2 mbps, 24 hours free Wi-Fi service and it will cover the station entrance and the surrounding area with unlimited data download.”
This initiative is under the Central Government’s Digital India campaign and Joister has set up 700 free wi-fi spots in cities like Thane, Satara, Pune, Navi Mumbai and Solapur.
