The government has launched a video of India’s National Anthem in sign language!

Union Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey launched the video. The government addressed the physically challenged people as ‘divyang’ and not ‘viklang’. The minister of state for human resource development expressed the government’s happiness over the launch and said that the National Anthem has been produced in sign language for those people who depend on it. Also, the ministry declared officially that the physically challenged people who were addressed as ‘viklang’ until now will be now called as ‘divyang’ so that there is no distinction marked.

The video is 3.35 minutes and stars Bollywood celebrity Amitabh Bachchan along with physically challenged children who are performing in the sign language. The video is directed by Govind Nihalani and has Red Fort in its background. The video marks the importance of the sign language in India as it is in practice in the nation since ancient times.

The video was launched in Goa, Bhopal, Chandigarh and Kolhapur. BJP national spokesperson Sudesh Verma, United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan Director Derek Segaar were present at the launch.
