We have a beautiful garden in our balcony where my hubby has planted a variety of plants bearing flowers and vegetables. It's a beautiful feeling to spend the early mornings and the nights sitting there amongst plants and gazing at the beautiful sky. We spend blissful hours chatting and enjoying a warm cup of coffee or tea or ice cream.
He tends to the plants with love and care and spends hours working around them. He has taken care to have an aluminium enclosure so that the water doesn't spill over and spoil the look of the building or go into the flat beneath. Sometimes I call them his first love and he smiles in agreement.
A few weeks back I was complaining that we do not get many flowers and he must plant some flower-bearing plants. But as summer arrived and days got hotter, the plants are covered with flowers....roses, hibiscus, Champa, you name it. It's surprising and beautiful how plants blossom with the energy of summers while we humans perspire and feel drained all the time.
Unlike us, plants use the energy of the sun to bloom and look beautiful while we lock ourselves in air-conditioned offices and homes complaining about how strong the sun rays are.
Nature has its own rules and one who obeys it blooms and prospers. It teaches you to move through all seasons and grow in all aspects of life so that you face and see the ups and downs of life with equanimity and grace. After the rains there is autumn that takes you to winters followed by spring that takes you to summers....there is a way how you deal with life challenges....nature tells you to go through the transition slowly feeling each emotion and the learnings life offers. There will be nothing in excess because nature is not partial. So when you are going through rough weather it will bring a rainbow of hope love and support.
My little garden gives me life lessons that no book has taught me. We have visitors too in the form of a variety of birds and they sprinkle happiness by their chirping just like beautiful friends and children who bring warmth and love in our life. Not to forget the gardener, that one person who holds it all together .....the head of the family.....and his skill is marked by his blooming plants.
