Ladies! If you see any pink colour buses standing on the Pune streets, hop on to use the rest rooms. This new initiative of Pune Municipal Corporation is rather its first move towards Smart City.
‘Toilets for Her’ is a new project wherein Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has successfully converted old buses into mobile toilets.
There is always an apathy, when it comes to common toilets for women. But this move has surely made a transformation of old buses which are usually sold in garage sale.
With a logo specially designed, and the mobile toilets being made in polished way, the buses are making people turn their faces and look at it.
The bus has five toilets and have fitted water sensor and also a machine that dispenses sanitary napkins.
What special about these buses is they are totally solar equipped and also has a panic button in case of any emergency. Initially, three buses have been converted and are now stationed at Jangli Maharaj road, Fergusson College road and Ganeshkhind road.
Being new, there are few takers for these buses but as and when women would get use to it and know the cleanliness and hygiene maintained in it, the mobile toilets will take a pick over its footfall.
for sure, an extra thoughtful and innovative move of best out of waste.
