The startup from Lucknow, Decentrik Technologies has come up with mobile water ‘ATM.’ It can reduce the carbon footprint. It is known as Waah. At just Rs.2, it provides up to 250 ml of clean and safe water.
It look like a small tempo having a water dispenser with taps for accessing water. It has re-usable glasses made from recycled paper for drinking water, as per media reports.
Waah decreases people’s dependence on water in plastic bottles and pouches. The company says, one Waah unit can prevent about 1,500-3,500 kg of plastic waste per year.
The company informs that the water ATMs fill the gap between costly bottled water and cheap plastic pouches, which may not have safe water. These sources also add plastic waste and pollution.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, will be providing the company with a seed fund of Rs. 50 lakh, as per an announcement. It is expected that the company can expand it’s business as also follow World Health Organisation standards. Not only this, the company has signed contract with Indian Oil for installing its water dispensers in petrol bunks in the city.
Such Mobile Water ATMs are welcome anywhere, especially in summer months.
