The few chosen ones who make it to the Beauty Pageant on a global stage have a remarkable personality. They are a unique combination of beauty and brains. The entire audience is amazed when the participants showcase their tremendous talents.
But, how often have you seen someone showcasing a science experiment to win the crown? Well, 24-year-old biochemist, Camille Schrier did and it made her win the title of Miss Virginia 2019.
Camille performed a Chemistry experiment; the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide for the talent round at the Liberty University. She mixed potassium iodine with the peroxide and huge colorful and vibrant foam popped up as which left the audience absolutely thrilled.
Camille had a deep connection with science right from her childhood and today it helped her win a prestigious title. The talented and budding biochemist is currently a Doctor of Pharmacy student at the Virginia Commonwealth University.
Though all those who participate in the beauty pageant are extremely talented, the talents they showcase are mostly connected to the field of performing arts. The participants usually play instruments, sing or dance to impress the judges but, Camille did something absolutely out of the box. And watching a participant perform a science experiment in a lab coat is something unusual and exhilarating at the same time.
While talking about what she wants to be, Camille said: “I’m trying to be like Bill Nye. That’s what I’m going for. I want to get kids excited, but I don’t want it to be boring.” As reported by Virginia Commonwealth University.
The young biochemist has now set a bar and broken the stereotype. Hopefully, now we will get to see more such unconventional acts at beauty pageants.
