In a landmark discovery, UK-based mining company Gem Diamonds uncovered what is thought to be the world’s fifth largest diamond in Lesotho, an African nation.Experts say that the 910-carat diamond is of exceptional quality and is estimated worth is $40 million (over ₹254 crore).
Gem Diamonds acquired Letseng in 2006 and since then the mine has produced some of the world's most remarkable diamonds, including the 603-carat 'Lesotho Promise.'
The biggest uncut diamond found in a century is a rough diamond from Botswana, believed to be, sold for $53 million in September 2017.
