Dairy is a globally produced agricultural commodity; nearly every nation milks dairy cows, and up to a billion people work on dairy farms. It is an essential component of the world food chain and is especially important to the sustainability of rural communities. It is served for breakfast and lunch at the school. It has been at the core of a national movement to encourage consumption since 1994, and there are now more options than ever before. According to Alexis Motley, a registered dietitian and the head of Southern University A&M College's dietetic internship program, milk drinking can aid in the formation of strong teeth and bones. She claims that it can also help lower the risk of low bone mass and osteoporosis, a disorder that thins the bones.
Why should we drink milk?
Milk gives the body vital nutrients such as calcium, potassium, vitamin D, and protein, but it isn't the only
way to get these nutrients.

Additionally, there is ~
Adults who want to drink milk require around three cups daily, but toddlers and younger kids only need one to 2.5 cups, according to the expert. However, most people's milk intake is nothing near this, according to studies. Tia Jeffrey works as an assistant professor at the University of the District of Columbia's School of Health, nursing, and Nutrition. She is a registered dietitian. Other possibilities, she suggested, include a cup of milk combined with a cup of yogurt or cheese, especially for kids. According to Fort Valley State University family life specialist Kena Torbert, cow's milk has the highest concentration of vitamins and minerals. She mentioned potassium for a healthy heart and blood pressure and calcium for bones. She mentioned that lactose-free milk, cheese, fortified soy milk, and yogurt are all excellent choices.
Is cow's milk too fatty? It doesn't have to be ~
Motley from Southern University A&M College said some people even think milk is too fatty and will cause them to have high cholesterol or heart disease, but there are ways around that. "You don't have to drink whole milk," she said. "You can drink low-fat or fat-free milk and still get the same nutrient content but less fat."And Jeffery wants people to know they shouldn't be alarmed if items they can't consume are listed as recommended foods or drinks on government websites such as MyPlate.gov."There's an assumption that they're not meeting their calcium needs or protein needs," Jeffery said. "That is not true. If you choose to drink cow's milk, great. If not, you do have other options for meeting your calcium needs. Calcium comes in different forms and different foods."Take blackstrap molasses, for instance. It has about 200 milligrams of calcium in it per tablespoon. Some milk alternatives are fortified with specific types of protein, as well as calcium. "not all non-dairy milk is created equal," she said, so look at labels and compare to see which ones are best for you and your diet.

What's "healthiest" depends on each person's needs ~
Studies estimate that 75% of individuals worldwide suffer from some type of lactose sensitivity; for this demographic, non-dairy choices are ideal. According to Jeffrey, this also applies to vegetarians, vegans, and anyone with a milk allergy. "It depends on the person and the environment, including preferences and medical conditions," Jeffery stated. "Take that into consideration."In addition, grocery shops now offer a variety of alternatives to cow milk, including almond milk, oat milk, and bananas. There are so many different 'milk' on the market, it's almost overwhelming as a practitioner, and also as a consumer. "Plant-based milk works well for certain folks. Others find that cow's milk works well. Furthermore, the availability of additional alternatives can be a result of the diagnosis of more illnesses, such as celiac disease, or food sensitivity to gluten, a protein present in wheat, barley, and rye. "We're starting to see where we can make a change in the market," she stated.
