Resilience is what makes a person face the most difficult phases with utmost grit. Ex investigative journalist Triveni Acharya has seen innumerable heinous acts by people throughout her life. While covering a celebrity’s charity event at a red-light area, she came across a girl who was forced into prostitution. She still recalls that day as the young girl became a reason for her to reach out to several other girls like her.
Recently Humans of Bombay covered her story and we got intrigued after reading it. Hence, we thought of sharing it with our readers. Triveni along with her late husband, Balkrishna Acharya has rescued several girls who were forcefully dragged into prostitution. Her husband was a military man who decided to run a business after shifting to Mumbai but, his urge to rescue the innocent girls became his main priority so, he shut down the business.
Everything was going smooth until the day Balkrishna died due to a road accident. The days became dark for Triveni but, courage got her back to her normal self and she decided to carry on with the rescue missions.
Until now, their organization, Rescue Foundation has saved more than 5000 girls from human trafficking. Some of their girls are now married and leading a great life while some are making their careers or settled abroad.
The rescued girls go through holistic rehabilitation programs which start with healthcare and psychosocial counseling. They even have four shelter homes for the girls.
Today numerous girls are far away from a filthy world just because of Triveni’s immense valor. We at My Indian Dream respect her for the things that she has done for the girls.
