Gordon B. Hinckley once said, “The Happiest People I Know Are Those Who Lose Themselves In The Service Of Others.” Contributing to society can help develop a lot of things around us. And with this thought, abstract artist, Sandeep Sinha, created an incredible single scene painting which has a strong message. It became the world’s largest professional oil painting by a single artist and made way to the Guinness World Records.
The 48.78 meters oil painting in the form of panorama depicts the iconic Himalayas. Sandeep always wanted to do his part for society so, he dedicated his magnificent painting to all the acid attack victims.
While talking to My Indian Dream, Sandeep said: “I thought portraying the Himalayas would be the best option for a single scene painting. But, above everything, my first motto was to create a positive impact on society. Acid attack survivors are living legends, they stand tall like the Himalayas even after experiencing what they have gone through. And my painting is dedicated to them. I have given it the title, HiMakhan, Hi signifies strong from the exterior just like the Himalayas while Makhan means soft on the inside like butter.” He even added: “My father’s name was also Makhan and I wanted it to be written down in the history.”
It was essential for Sandeep to display his painting in an art gallery before preparing for Guinness World Records. Thus, he first showcased the art at his solo exhibition, Avahan – Awakening the Goddess Within around last year Durga Puja. It took 15 days for him to plan the idea of the painting and two months to complete it.
Apart from being a renowned abstract artist, Sandeep is also an IT professional and he is balancing both the professions well.
Raised in Jabalpur, Sandeep says creativity runs in his family. He has been playing with colours every day for the past twenty years and today he is garnering recognition not just for entering GWR but, also for adding a beautiful concept behind his painting. He says parents must not restrain their children from looking at an acid attack victim because today’s kids will lead the world tomorrow. And the future will be bright if the nourishment starts from a tender age.
