In a world where diseases are increasing rapidly, providing healthcare to those in need is essential. Talking about India, people residing in most rural areas seldom have the accessibility to medical facilities which results in deteriorating conditions and deaths. But there are some individuals who are providing a better life to the needy and we are going to talk about one of them today.
Padmashree award winner, Ramana Rao is not just a doctor but, also an exceptional person who is offering a lot to society. It was the year 1973 when the people of Begur village beamed with joy like never before as Dr Ramana opened a small clinic there. He started treating his patients for free and as time passed by, his endeavour garnered deluge of praises. It’s been 44 long years since he started his clinic and even today people travel from far away distances just to get treated by him.
Every Sunday morning there would be a long queue outside Dr Ramana’s clinic. From conducting yoga and pranayama classes for the patients to directing examinations and making them aware of general hygiene, they are provided with everything to get healed.
Numerous kids in India get into labour work owing to lack of education and Dr Ramana supports 50 schools to provide the children with basic requirements. Sanitation is another problem for the people residing in rural areas as many of them do not have access to proper toilets and keeping this in mind, he has helped build 700 toilets for underprivileged families.
People like Dr Ramana makes us believe in generosity. Hope he gets to treat several other needy people and provide them with a life that they deserve.
