Many women go through a deplorable situation on a daily basis just because they were not born as men. The comparison between a girl and a boy not only takes place in rural areas but, also in numerous well-off families. Even today a lot of educated men prefer their wives to sit at home because according to them, their abilities are only limited to household work.
For advocate Abha Singh, the laws are not enough to empower women as they aren't implemented properly. In India, several criminals get away from their crimes which results in injustice towards innocent people. Thus, Abha runs an NGO called, Rann-Samar through which she gives legal assistance to women and people residing in slums to help them fight for their rights. She was was previously into Indian Civil Services but, later decided to work as a lawyer. Abha's husband, Yogesh Pratap Singh also chose to work as an activist and advocate after serving as an officer in the police force of India.
Abha’s fight for the women of our country is commendable, she gives them the courage to cross every hindrance to lead a better life. Women are treated like doormats in several households even today and she is working really hard to make the laws powerful for them.
Many cases of honor killing and dowry have been considered petty in our country which has done no justice to the victims. A change will come the day every offender is penalized for his deed.
Abha has worked on several high-profile cases and her desire to provide women with a better society continues. Most girls fear to step out of their houses after 10 pm in India, we hope the situation will alter someday if women like Abha stands beside the female population.
