Manju Yadav's world came crumbling down when she lost her husband who worked as a coolie (porter). She was left to fend for herself and her three children and had no source of income. Gathering her nerves, she came to terms with her life and decided to fight it out for her children. She broke all stereotype when she decided to follow her late husband’s footstep and took up the job of a coolie.
No one had heard of a woman coolie and her decision to become one shocked her family and community. However, she persisted and after five years, the 35-year-old has not only made a mark for herself but also set an example for women who are fighting poverty and patriarchy.
