In a world where most people tend to overlook the pathetic condition of a stray dog, Tauseef Ahmed is making sure the pariahs are safe while roaming around on the streets. A rescuer, a paravet and a guardian angel for the voiceless, this 31-year-old animal activist from Mangalore is doing his utmost each and every day to give the animals a life that they deserve.
Stray dogs are often run over by vehicles which results in several deaths. Similar cases in Mangalore became a matter of concern for Tauseef and he decided to do something about it. So, he came up with a thought of tagging the pariahs with reflective collars. Once he started implementing the idea, drivers could spot a dog from 50 meters of distance especially during the night as the collars reflect light. This turned out to be a success and the dogs are now happily walking around with the tags.
Until now Tauseef has tagged 500 stray dogs in Mangalore. He gets the reflective collars from an NGO called Pawsitivity and if anyone shows interest in tagging the dogs, he gives them the collars for free.
Tauseef has been working for the muted souls for the past 10 years and he says the more you start getting recognized the more people look up to you as an inspiration. In a conversation with My Indian Dream, he reminisced a heart-warming incident and while talking about it he said: “Once an old man called me to get 25 reflective collars for the stray dogs. He wanted to tag them because he had lost his son in a bike accident where a dog was also involved. The death of his son and the muted soul was the reason behind why he wanted to tag the pariahs.”
Apart from doing something humongous for the stray dogs, Tauseef also rescues, snakes, turtles, birds, and other animals. He carries a medical kit along with him all the time for onsite treatments.
Today people take advice and suggestions from him on how to treat a muted soul as he is a trained paravet. In 2018, he bagged India for Animals Award under the category Best Street Care and Rescue.
We at My Indian Dream are extremely proud of Tauseef and the commendable work that he has been doing. We hope he becomes an inspiration for several others and makes this world a safe place for the animals.
