The increase in consumer waste is doing no good for the environment as a lot of materials don’t get recycled. But, a zero-waste platform called Loop initiated by TerraCycle is focusing on curbing down consumer waste. It is joining hands with consumer brands such as Procter & Gamble, Nestlé, P&G, Unilever, and many others to work on the mission.
We generally dump a bottle of cream or a box of ice-cream after getting done with the products. Therefore, Loop plans to deliver the goods in a container that is reusable. The products will be delivered to the consumers in a bag which has different sections and once it gets over, they can put back the containers in the bag without cleaning them. Loop will get the containers sterilized in order to make them reusable. The consumers can also get it refilled if they want to.
In a discussion regarding the initiative of Loop, the Chief R&D Officer of Unilever, David Blanchard told Forbes: “We believe Loop will complement our existing efforts to create a plastic system that works and a packaging system that is truly circular by design.”
Loop is said to be launched in several parts of the US in the month of May.
