Diwali spreads joy and excitement in the hearts of people and this year the festival of lights will also brighten up the lives of 900 marginalized children of Allahabad as funds from the sale of diyas will be spent on their education.

Over 50 volunteers are actively working with an organization to make decorative and fancy diyas to bring happiness on the faces of marginalized children between 6 and 14 years in trans-Yamuna area.

Ramakant Dwivedi who is the activity head of Prayag Vibhag said that they are designing and creating decorative diyas for sale ahead of Diwali to be sent to different parts of the city. About a thousand children are to be benefitted from the funds collected from the sale.

The funds will be used to finance the education of children whose parents can’t afford to send their children to school. Dwivedi said that over 25,000  diyas have been packed in a set of seven and dispatched to different parts of the city.

The organization not only funds the education of students from poor families but also runs special free classes for the children after school hours. The volunteers are also happy to work for the children. They believe that with such projects, more children can get quality education.
