Life gives abundant joy and privileges to numerous people but, it also puts challenges and difficulties in one’s way. When we see someone underprivileged leading a life which we can only imagine, most of us sympathize with the person. How many of us come forward to mend his life? But, for Mohan Sudabattula the sight of some amputated children in an orphanage in India remained imprinted in his mind.
Mohan’s parents immigrated to Utah around 30 years ago. Physically he was in the US state after returning back from India but, his heart laid there. The thoughts of the children kept lingering in his mind as they didn’t have access to proper wheelchairs or stretchers.
There are amputated people who cannot afford a wheelchair or crutches or a walker and thinking of them, Mohan came up with his initiative, Project Embrace in 2017.
Mohan knew that medical devices such as stretchers or something else can be reused but, sadly that hardly happened. Therefore, team Project Embrace collects such abandoned devices, sanitizes them and redistributes them among those who don’t have access to it. The distribution is done worldwide.
The Washington Post reported that Project Embrace has distributed 500 pieces of used medical equipment to underprivileged people in Utah and also to organizations that offer assistance to disabled people in India and Swaziland.
Together the team has altered several lives and they plan to do a lot more. It just takes one step to bring in a change for the betterment of those who deserve a life as jovial as others. Hence, a lot of good things and positivity can come into the picture if we start taking initiatives like Mohan.
