Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “project commencement” of the Rs 43,129-crore refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Barmer district.
The 9-metric tonne per annum refinery which is expected to change the economy of the region is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government. It has been claimed to be India’s first greenfield Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI) petrochemical project.
HPCL officials have assured of commencing operations at the complex in 2022 to coincide with the nation’s 75th anniversary of Independence.
