A state-of-art school has been set up in Kerala for special children and classes are slated to begin next month. The school which also includes a 350-bed hospital looks after the overall health of disabled children.
According to a report in India Today, the premier school has been set up by NIMS at a cost of Rs 3 crore. The highlight of this school is that fees are optional and only those who can afford to pay can make the payment of the fees.
NIMS Spectrum
The managing director of NIMS Hospital, Faizal Khan informed that their state of the art NIMS Spectrum will commence on December 3. It will provide rehabilitation services to differently-abled children. The comprehensive services will include therapies in child development, behaviour, speech, audiology, occupational, autistic, to name a few. Fourteen different departments will cater to the well being of these special children.
Trained Staff
The differently-abled children will be cared for by around 100 professionally trained staff. An area of 7000 square feet of space at the ground floor has been set aside to accommodate 80 children for various therapies. Khan said that while all will be handed a bill, payment of the charges is not mandatory. One can pay either in full or in installments and if one doesn’t pay, there is no issue. He further added that the facility will be run by the revenue generated from their other establishments.
The rehabilitation centre comprising of the school and hospital will open on December 3 which is the International Day of Disabled Persons.
