Imagine a robot saying “Namaste”. Well, it’s a reality as Ranchi based Ranjit Srivastava has developed India’s first humanoid robot that can speak Hindi, Bhojpuri and Marathi along with English.
Srivastava drew inspiration from ‘Sophia’ the world’s first humanoid robot developed by a Hong Kong-based company that was unveiled in 2016.
According to Ranjit Srivastava, the humanoid robot that he has named ‘Rashmi’ uses linguistic interpretation (LI), artificial intelligence (AI), visual data and facial recognition systems. He has developed specially designed software and linguistic interpretation system that enable Rashmi to function in the desired manner. The LI program interprets the feeling of the conversation and the AI program analyses the conversation to extract the response from the device.
Experts have termed ‘Rashmi’ as an incredible achievement. Srivastava is an MBA who has experience in software development for more than 15 years. It took him only two years to create the speaking robot at a meager cost of Rs 50,000. The robot will be ready in a month. While the head and body have been completed, hands and legs need to be attached to give it a complete human form. Rasmi is capable of giving facial, eye, lips, and eyebrow expressions and it can also move its neck.
This is a remarkable invention by Ranjit Srivastava who has won numerous national awards and recognition for his software.
