There is always that one day in a year when you feel special and loved – your birthday. Parents host parties for you and friends always make your birthday memorable. However, there are many children in the world who don’t celebrate their birthdays. Tanvi Barman knows this very well as she used to often accompany her parents while they volunteered at shelters. She came across kids who never have had a party like the ones she has every year.
Tanvi then decided to host birthday celebrations for these homeless children to make their day special. On weekends she hosts birthday parties for the little children and tries to be their source of happiness. She says that although she doesn’t know the kids, it all changes within minutes and soon the kids are tugging at her sleeve, holding her hands and displaying complete trust in her.
Her initiative is termed ‘No Birthday Left Behind’ and she recently hosted her 45th celebration for the kids. As news of her good work spread, she has received help from many quarters in hosting the parties. A face painter and puppeteer volunteers for her parties and people donate pizzas and custom cakes.
Tanvi is only 17, yet she is capable of giving limitless love and boundless joy to the less fortunate children by making their birthdays special and memorable.
