On Saturday, October 5, Mumbai's first underground Metro Line 3 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also unveiled the MetroConnect3 app, which aims to improve commuters' travel experiences. When fully operational, the Mumbai Metro Line 3's BKC to Aarey route would serve 10 metro stations and carry about 13 lakh passengers every day. The Mumbai Metro Line 3 is scheduled to run at an average speed of 35 kmph and a maximum speed of 85 kmph. The first phase of this line is estimated to cut vehicular traffic by as much as 6.5 lakh trips, with road traffic along the route projected to decline by 35%.
Additionally, it is estimated that the line will save about 3.54 lakh fuel liters each year. The 33.5-kilometer Colaba-Seepz-Aarey Metro Line 3 includes the 12.69-kilometer section that runs between Aarey Colony and BKC.
When Line-3 between Aarey and Colaba in south Mumbai is completely operational, it will serve over 13 lakh passengers every day. Each rake of eight coaches will carry about 2500 passengers.
