The country got its first greenfield industrial smart city as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Aurangabad Industrial City on Saturday. Greenfield project refers to development done on land that was not previously in use. The smart city AURIC is spread over an area of 10,000 acres and is part of the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor.
The smart city also comprises of the Auric Hall, a six-storey building which was also inaugurated by the Prime Minister. It will act as the monitoring and administrative nerve centre for the smart city. The PM also launched the Auric chatbot wherein the city administration will look into and resolve the problems of people who approach it.
The country’s first greenfield industrial smart city has been built in the backward region of Marathwada which is being developed as part of the Delhi Mumbai industrial corridor. The smart city is one more step in the government’s attempts to hasten up the industrial growth between India’s two important and influential cities.
PM Modi accompanied by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis also visited an exhibition of handicraft wares made by women self-help groups and handed over an LPG connection to the 8th crore beneficiary under the Ujjwala scheme.
