Globally, India ranks second in the Renewable energy country attractiveness index. India has risen from rank three to two, thanks to immense governmental support and increasing investments in the nation.
The government programmes for renewable energy resources has led to it. Government aims to generate 175 Giga Watt (GW) of energy through renewable energy resources by 2022 and to have a count of about 40 percent of renewable energy resource share in the total installed capacity by 2040. The solar capacity in our country has increased from 2.6 GW in 2014 to 10 GW in 2017.
Now as the renewable energy development is increasing, attention must be shifted as to how to manage intermittent resources, meaning the resources that are useful only for some period of time or available irregularly, like the solar energy. This would create a trouble as solar availability falls in the evening. India must also ensure that the companies in the nation will continue buying renewable energy resources even in bid prices’ rise.
Economically feasible renewable energy resources gave a hope of security of future energy consumption and added many countries like Kazakhstan, Panama and the Dominican Republic into the top 40 countries’ index for the first time.
