The construction of the new Parliament building is slated to get over by January end as finishing touches are being made to the interior at a breakneck pace. The Central Vista, the country's power corridor, is being renovated, and it includes the new Parliament building.
A grand constitution hall showcasing India's democratic legacy would be included in the new Parliament building in New Delhi, along with a library, many committee rooms, dining places, and plenty of parking.
The project is being carried out by the CPWD, which is under the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. It includes remodeling the three km Rajpath from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to the India Gate, building a common central secretariat, a new prime minister's office, and residence, and creating a new vice-president enclave.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the new, state-of-the-art Parliament building in December 2020.
A decision on whether the entire session or just the second half, which starts after a break in March, will be held in the new building has yet to be made, according to sources in the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry.
The triangular new building, designed by Ahmedabad-based HCP Design, Planning, and Management, is being built by Tata Projects.
