India and Japan are now jointly in talks on various infrastructure projects Africa, Sri Lanka, Iran and South East Asia. This is said to be a counter step to China’s One Belt One Road (OBOR) project that will connect it to Europe and Africa.
India has stayed away from the launch of the most talked OBOR project by Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday due to obvious strategic and security reasons due to which there is already a created intensity in India-China ties.
India and Japan are together working on many projects like the expansion of important Trincomalee port in Sri Lanka and Chabahar port in Iran. They are also in talks on working together in development of the Dawei port on the Thai-Myanmar border. On May 24, in Ahmedabad, there will a joint meeting of India and Japan with stakeholder of Africa pertaining to the projects on infrastructure and capacity building in Africa.
All the Indian-Japanese initiatives across the Asia-Pacific belt to Africa are a part of the Freedom corridor to lessen the growing influence of the Chinese. Also the economic conditions of Africa will strengthen and boost with these projects.
The growing India-Japan partnership will eventually give shape to the future of both nations and their influence globally.
