Poverty is a curse and this curse to mankind and looking beyond this curse is a difficult thing. One cannot makes ends meet and this leaves them helpless and adopts illegal ways to earn money. Very few see the light at the end of the tunnel. One such woman is Suhasini Mistry.
Suhasini Mistry lost her husband at the age of 23 not due to his illness but lack of proper treatment. Suhasini lost her husband as the hospital refused admission to the dying patient. To never let anyone die a death of suffering, Suhasini who worked as a vegetable seller, a labourer and housemaid to make ends meet with her four children started taking steps to build a hospital for the poor.
Suhasini Mistry made her dream a reality in 1996 and made it operational in the same year. As the idea was to serve the needy and serve humanity, the hospital was named as ''Humanity Hospital''. Humanity Hospital has two branches, one in Suhasini's own village in Hansakali, Nadia district and the other one in Sunderbans. Both hospitals are in Bengal.
For Suhasini things were not easy as due to poverty and less financial support, Suhasini's elder son( Ajay) grew up in an orphanage. At present, he is working very hard to run the hospital. Suhasini's efforts and dedication towards this noble cause have surely made her a star. This thought to serve the society gained a lot of applause for Suhasini and she was therefore awarded fourth highest civilian Padma Shree.
