There are so many orphaned and abandoned children waiting to be adopted, but it is a fact that the majority of childless couples undergo fertility treatments to have a biological child of their own. Therefore, the decision of New Jersey-based couple Shyam Mohan and Payal to adopt a child even before they had their own biological child is commendable.
Last year, an infant girl child was found abandoned in a train at Kalupur railway station. The Railway Protection force found her crying in an empty train. As they couldn’t trace her biological parents, they took her to Shishu Gruh in Paldi. She grew up along with the other children, but fate had something else in store for her.
Mohan who has his roots in Kerala and his wife Payal who hails from Gujarat had initiated the adoption process even after the birth of their child Aanya. They were delighted to know that they could adopt this little girl, now one and a half years old who was found abandoned in the train. They named her Sia Kranti Mohan.
The adoption ceremony was organized at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar. Gujarat governor Acharya Dev Vrat, state minister Ishwar Parmar and officials of child welfare committees presided over the ceremony.
The officials of Shishu Gruh were very happy about Kranti’s new journey. They are confident that Kranti will easily gel with her new family. It is such a miracle that an abandoned girl child found in a train is on her way to lead a privileged life in the US. As long as there are thoughtful and caring people like Mohan and Payal, such miracles are bound to happen.
