Sightsavers India and Alcon India have teamed up to launch a state-of-the-art mobile eye health van, bringing essential eye care services to nearly 7,000 people in underprivileged neighborhoods. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a fundus camera for diagnosing glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, a slit lamp for retinal disease assessment, and teleconsultation capabilities, this van is a game-changer in providing high-quality eye care. Unveiled at the Bengaluru Diabetes and Eye Hospital, this initiative aims to eliminate avoidable blindness and ensure everyone, regardless of income, has access to top-notch eye health services. Amar Vyas, Country Head of Alcon India, proudly declared, "This van will bring high-quality eye care to all corners of Bengaluru, especially remote areas, helping people see brilliantly." The Shraddha Eye Care Trust Overview:
Millions of Indians risk avoidable blindness as a result of poor access to eye care, especially in rural areas. For more than 20 years, the philanthropic division of Nethradhama Eye Hospital, the Shraddha Eye Care Trust, has worked to alter this situation. Dr. Sri Ganesh, an ardent ophthalmologist, founded Shraddha to provide free screenings, surgeries, vision centers, and corrective glasses to underprivileged areas. With its cutting-edge facilities and dedication to providing therapy at an affordable price, Shraddha gives people the tools they need to regain their freedom and create better lives.
Dr Sri Ganesh of Shraddha Eye Care Trust added, “We are honored to partner with Sightsavers India and Alcon in launching the Mobile Eye Health Van, enabling us to extend our reach and bring essential eye care services directly to those who need them most.” The Mobile Eye Health Van will cover key areas within Bengaluru, including Bengaluru South, North, East, and West, offering comprehensive eye exams, early detection of vision problems, and immediate treatment for common eye conditions. Patients will be referred to Shraddha Eye Clinic Trust for further treatment in case of major eye care diagnoses, with treatment being free or subsidized depending on the patient’s socioeconomic status.
