Following the T20 World Cup, Indian media were left stuck in Barbados until BCCI Secretary Jay Shah arrived to save them. Barbados has been under high alert since Sunday, June 30, due to the threat posed by Hurricane Beryl, one day after India's victory in the Twenty20 World Cup. After an amazing T20WC campaign, the Indian cricket team extended their stay in Barbados, leaving the nation's media professionals stranded. To assist the Indian media, Shah has stepped forward and offered for them to go on the specially chartered flight from Barbados to Delhi with the Indian delegation.
On Wednesday, a special Air India flight touched down at Barbados Airport to return the World Cup winners in T20 cricket home. On Thursday, the team led by Rohit Sharma arrived in New Delhi. The Indian media, who had traveled to the Caribbean to cover the highly anticipated ICC competition, was also on the charter flight. Earlier on Wednesday night, Vice-President of the BCCI Rajeev Shukla gave an update on India's trip from Barbados to Delhi.

Shukla mentioned that the Indian team was flying back from Barbados to Delhi . He stated that they had been stranded there for three days due to a severe hurricane. Shukla also stated that BCCI had arranged for the players' safe flight back home, with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah personally overseeing the situation.
The original plan called for the Indian contingent to travel from Barbados to the USA and then via the UAE to India. However, due to a two-day delay caused by the hurricane, the BCCI decided to organize a charter flight to guarantee that every member of the team and their families arrived home together. The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) released a video of the World Cup Trophy that India won against South Africa just before they left. BCCI added the message "It's coming home" with the video. On Thursday morning, Rohit Sharma and company are anticipated to arrive in Delhi. On their return journey to India, several Indian players, including captain Rohit, shared pictures of themselves with the World Cup trophy to tribute to their stunning victory!
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the victorious Indian cricket team at his residence in New Delhi on Thursday, posing with the trophy and interacting with the squad. Later in the evening, the team is scheduled to participate in a victory parade in Mumbai.
