Geeta Verma has earned herself a place in the World Health Organization (WHO) calendar for 2018. This dedicated health worker from Himachal Pradesh left no stone unturned to confirm that all children of the remote interiors of Mandi district are immunized. To ensure 100 percent coverage, she walked and rode her motorcycle to remote corners to immunize children belonging to nomadic communities, sometimes trekking through treacherous terrain.
Verma was congratulated by chief minister Jai Ram Thakur for her achievements. He said that it was a matter of pride for the state that a woman health worker found mention in the WHO calendar.
