Delhi Metro offers its passengers participation in ‘Heritage Walk’ in Old Delhi every Saturday!
This walk will be from four metro station in Old Delhi. This is an initiative from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) offering special walks through areas of Old Delhi that will give a much detailed view of Old Delhi’s cultural and heritage landmarks. The inaugural walk entitled ‘An Empire’s Tale through the Blooming Red’ was held on August 5. A total of eight walks with different themes will be arranged on all weekends of August. This comes as a part of their pilot project.
Delhi Metro is working in tie up with Delhi Walks which organizes various walks for visitors to historical places across the nation. In the ‘Heritage Walk’, the tourists or visitors will gather at the metro stations of Old Delhi and then start their walk with trained guides. The walk will cover various landmarks like the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Chawri Bazar and Chandni Chowk. Every walk charges Rs. 500 per head and is for about 60 to 90 minutes.
The aim of this initiative is to bring the city’s rich heritage and culture close to people. The initiative is in its pilot phase and will be extended depending on its feedback.
