Haryana has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first state in India to complete 100% electrification of its railway network. The accomplishment was recently lauded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who congratulated the state and stated that numerous benefits would result from this achievement.
The news was first shared by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Twitter.Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister on behalf of the people of Haryana. He said that this accomplishment would greatly benefit citizens and prove to be significant for the protection of the environment. He also mentioned that Haryana is consistently moving on the path of development under the visionary leadership and inspiration of Prime Minister Modi.
Haryana has a broad gauge network of 1,701 route kilometres, all of which are now 100% electrified. This railway network falls under the jurisdiction of the Northern, North Central, and North Western Railways, and serves some of the state's major railway stations, including Ambala, Panipat, Gurugram, Kurukshetra, Hisar Junction, Rewari Junction, Rohtak Junction, and Bhiwani.
Numerous popular trains pass through Haryana, providing connectivity to various parts of the state and major cities in India. These include the Kalka Shatabdi Express, Himalayan Queen, Kalka Mail, Paschim Express, Golden Temple Mail, and Kalinga Utkal Express.
Overall, Haryana's achievement in electrifying its entire railway network is an important step towards modernizing transportation in the state, reducing carbon emissions, and improving the lives of its citizens.
