In a significant agricultural breakthrough, natural farming has taken root in Andhra Pradesh, bringing about a transformative change for farmers in Anantapur district. Under the community-managed natural farming (APCNF) program, more than 8.9 lakh farmers in the state are experiencing the benefits of this sustainable farming practice. 

Recently, the APCNF program gained national recognition by winning three prestigious Jaivik India Awards, cementing its success and effectiveness. This global recognition was further enhanced when Narayanappa, a marginal farmer from the program, was selected for the esteemed Karmaveer Chakra Award (Bronze) and REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship 2023-24. This recognition, instituted by the Indian Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO) in partnership with the United Nations, highlights the remarkable achievements of Narayanappa and the impact of natural farming.

Facing the challenges of insufficient rainfall and persistent drought-like conditions, farmers like Narayanappa were pushed into financial distress. However, the APCNF program, with the support of the Department of Agriculture, Government of AP, organized awareness programs to encourage farmers to adopt natural farming methods. Narayanappa's success story showcases the life-changing impact of this transition.

By embracing natural farming, Narayanappa replaced chemical-based fertilizers and pesticides with home-prepared biostimulants, enhancing soil fertility and reducing investment costs significantly. With a diverse range of crops, including tubers, maize, cluster beans, and leafy vegetables, Narayanappa now enjoys year-round harvests and a substantial increase in income.

This agricultural revolution has not only ensured food security and financial stability for farmers but has also contributed to their overall well-being. Natural farming has emerged as a sustainable solution, promoting ecological balance and setting a path for a prosperous future in Andhra Pradesh.
