21 year old Prachi Sukhwani, suffers from retinal degradation since she was in class III. Due to this incurable genetic disorder, she lost over 80% of vision. But her dream was to study in top management institute, Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad. And remarkably, she realized it, against all odds, by cracking the Common Admission Test (CAT). Prachi had scored 98.55 percent marks in CAT 2016, according to the Times of India.
Prachi is a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) student at Maharaja Sayajirao University's (MSU) Faculty of Commerce. She says, "My short term goal is to join a company, preferably a multinational. Once I get some experience, I will have my own start-up. But my long term goal is to open an NGO for the blind,"
Prachi's father Suresh Sukhwani, runs a garment business and her mother Kanchan is a homemaker and also an LIC agent. Her elder sister Nishita, had completed her BBA from MSU and is a MBA student in a Mumbai college.
Prachi has demonstrated that even with physical setback, an individual with determination could realize goals, which are challenging even to the able-bodied persons. What’s more, she wants to dedicate her life to work for visually challenged individuals like her by starting an NGO!
