The huge investment that Germany made over the past two decades to promote cleaner sources of electricity is now paying rich dividends. Recently, the power prices in Germany plunged below zero as power grids were loaded due to overproduction.
The electricity production in the country from renewable sources like Sun and wind depends on the weather and sometimes favourable conditions lead to overproduction thus benefitting the consumers. The negative pricing compensates the consumers' subsequent electricity billing.
This also means that the existing technology cannot produce according to the demand, but is producing according to the weather.
