Clinician scientist, Gagandeep Kang who is known for her commendable work on vaccinology and rotavirus epidemiology in the country has become the first Indian woman to get elected as one of the fellows of the Royal Society.
World’s oldest national institution which was founded in the year 1660 has selected 51 scientists out of which, Gagandeep is one of them. She is the executive director of Translational Health Science and Technology Institute in Faridabad and also a professor at the Christian Medical College in Vellore.
Gagandeep has published more than 300 papers related to science and is also the first Indian to edit manson's textbook of tropical medicine. Her outstanding research work on viral infection in children has garnered a huge amount of recognition and she even came up with a vaccine in India which works against the rotavirus.
Gagandeep is a true inspiration for all those women who desire to stand out in the field of science.
