Ardra Nair, a 29-year-old entrepreneur from Kerala, is on a mission to reduce plastic pollution and promote sustainability. She founded Greenamor Ventures in 2021, a company that manufactures plastic-like biopolymers using coir waste.
Coir waste, which is a byproduct of coconut farming, is abundant in Kerala. It is usually burned or left to decompose, which can release harmful gases and contribute to air pollution. Ardra saw an opportunity to turn this waste into something useful and eco-friendly. The dream took shape when she was pursuing her master’s in Engineering in Kerala.
Greenamor Ventures uses patented technology to extract cellulose from coir waste and turn it into a biopolymer that can be used to make packaging materials. This biopolymer is biodegradable and compostable, meaning it can break down naturally without harming the environment.
The plastic-like biopolymer made by Greenamor Ventures is a game-changer in the packaging industry. It can be used to make a wide range of products, from bags and containers to cutlery and straws. It is a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic, which can take hundreds of years to decompose and is a major contributor to plastic pollution.
Greenamor Ventures is a shining example of how entrepreneurship and innovation can be used to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our planet. Ardra Nair's commitment to sustainability and her passion for creating a better future for all is truly inspiring.
