Making sculptures from scrap is becoming popular as was evident from the large crowds which were drawn towards the scrap sculptures hosted in Madurai , Tuticorin and now in Tirunelvelli. It is being held at the VOC Ground where seven sculptures fabricated from automobile scrap were installed.

These sculptures have been designed by a team of experts in Hyderabad. It is interesting to note that even before the event is open to the public, the sculptures are grabbing eyeballs of people who visit this ground.

Each sculpture had a team of seven designers who was assisted by another team of 17 people comprising welders, helpers and gas cutters.  According to sources, these sculptures were built from close to six tonnes of scrap, of which more than two-thirds are automobile waste. They were fabricated at a workshop on the outskirts of the city.

Among the major attractions is a tiger made with bicycle pedals (for stripes) and shock absorbers for the legs. It is 3m long and 1.3m tall also has other scraps including a truck's rim for the leg joints. There is also a 3m tall giraffe, a beautiful horse with wings and a rooster.

A 2.65m tall deer made of a cylinder, cut cycle rims, bicycle seat and truck wheel and a 4m-long fish with a warrior holding arrows and a gun made using silencers and springs are other interesting sculptures that are attracting large crowds.
