MTV Movie and TV awards presented the first ever genderless award for the category of the Best Actor which was bagged by Emma Watson for her phenomenal role as Belle in Beauty and the Beast.
This definitely has made a mark in history. Emma Watson, feeling extremely privileged by the honour appreciated MTV for making their awards genderless and said that acting is putting oneself in someone else’s shoes and this need not be divided in categories. Also, she commented that the move signifies new perception of human experience.
She added why her role as Belle in Beauty and the Beast deserved this accolade. She said that what made the character of Belle so impressive was her curiosity and desire at the same time to learn and wish for more from life. She proudly expressed her gratitude to be the part of the fantastic movie which was filled with joy and love. She added, “Empathy and the ability to use your imagination should have no limits. This is very meaningful to me - both to be winning the award and to be receiving it from you... in such an inclusive, patient and loving way. Thank you so much”
She concluded her thanksgiving speech by extending her gratitude to all her fans and well-wishers.
