"Dream, Dream, Dream! Conduct these dreams into thoughts, and then transform them into action."

The last decade has changed many concepts entirely. Watching a show or a movie is one of them. Regional as well as international content is so easily available online, that we no longer need TV sets. Our favourite episode of any series is just a click away.
People are spending whole weekends glued to laptop or smartphone screens and not doing any other thing. It has also affected the quality of work as videos can be watched on mobile applications. Binge-watching is currently in vogue and nobody is paying any attention to its downside.
The changing culture of watching series is damaging for psychological as well as physical health. Hours after hours are being spent in front of screens. Lying motionless while watching the favourite show is being equivalent of comfort.
And how wrong it is! Binge-watching and binge-eating often go hand in hand. It takes no time in resulting in obesity and weight gain. No physical exercise leads to many other problems like back pain, physical fatigue etc.
The psychological damage done by binge-watching is also very high. People start to develop anti-social behaviour, all thanks to the easy availability of content. ‘I can go home and watch something online. I do not need to waste my time here with friends/ families/casual meetings.’ This attitude is becoming very common day by day and it is keeping people away from each other.
We already have become enough anti-social in the last decade. If everyone becomes so obsessed with binge-watching, then we may soon actually forget what it is like to spend time with each other. Young generations from all corners of the world are already addicted to social media and the virtual world. If they are addicted to on-demand online streaming services too, then it will be hard to press the pause button.
The virtual world is so attractive that we no longer find things around us interesting enough to catch our attention. Attention span is decreasing rapidly. It takes a toll on our professional life as well. Meetings seem boring and common subjects to talk about become limited to favourite series.
It is very common to feel a void or sadness after finishing a series. It doesn’t matter if you are watching some family drama on TV or some internationally praised series online, the way it affects your mental health is the same.
Physical exercise, human touch and actual conversations are very important. Never underestimate those for few hours of binge-watching. Remember when we were kids, our parents used to spend half of their energy in keeping us away from television sets. They cannot do that now. You yourself have to be more cautious about how much time you are spending online watching something that no longer enriches your life.
