India has seen a rise in crimes lately. Public transports are for the citizens to travel safely but many a times safety isn't ensured to us. Keeping this in mind The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has taken into consideration the safety of women and has made Global Positioning System (GPS) and alert buttons mandatory in public transports including buses and taxis.
Three wheelers and e-rickshaws have been kept out of this rule as they are open and there is less risk. Passengers are more vulnerable in vehicles with closed structure, said the transport official.
The government has surely come up with a good step for ensuring women safety and we're sure this will reduce the crimes and provide women with a peaceful and safe travel environment.
