This Diwali, you can look forward to burst crackers without worrying about polluting the environment as different labs of India's key scientific research body - Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) have joined hands for developing eco-friendly firecrackers and arriving at a cost-effective technology to make e-crackers (electronic-crackers) available to Indian consumers across the country.
The initiative was taken in the backdrop of the strong concerns raised on the detrimental effects of highly polluting firecrackers on human health. The first phase would cover the reduction of pollutants while future strategies would cover removal of pollutants from the compositions (of firecrackers).
