8-year-old Daniel Hunt who lives in Tennessee was devastated when he saw his family home engulfed in flames. Along with his belongings, he knew he had lost his favorite toys as well. To make the child happy again, teachers of Daniel’s school - Philadelphia Elementary School in central Tennessee decided to organize a toy drive wherein each student will bring a toy of his choice for Daniel.
The toy drive was slated to last for a week and every day Daniel’s third-grade classmates whispered among themselves about the toy that they were going to gift Daniel. The teacher had told them that the toy drive should be kept a secret from Daniel, therefore, the children secretly worked to resupply his collection.
After a week, Daniel’s teacher sent him out of the class on an errand. In the meantime, his classmates arranged the pile of toys for Daniel. When he returned, they yelled in unison,’ surprise!’ Daniel was overjoyed, but instead of rushing towards the pile of toys, he outstretched both his arms to hug his classmates.
Daniel’s mother Kristen Wilburn said that Daniel has been smiling ever since. They had lost almost everything but were awed by the kind acts of people who were willing to help them without even being asked.
