The RS Puram police station (B-2) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu has been ranked the best police station in India by the Home Affairs Ministry. The award announced was under the SMART Police initiative declared by PM Narendra Modi in 2014. Union Minister Rajnath Singh presented the trophy to Tamil Nadu DGP TK Rajendran and station inspector T Jothi on Saturday.
The survey was conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Quality Council of India. Crime detection, execution of warrants and recovery of properties were among some of the parameters included in the survey.
The Punjagutta Police Station in Hyderabad stood second in the Centre’s rankings.
